Chili cook-off wrecks havoc on Power's air quality

When autumn mornings turn cooler – and there’s a bottle of Beano on display in the photo studio – it can mean only one thing: time for the annual Power Creative Chili Cook-off! And this year’s event was hot stuff.

Our amateur cooks stirred up 20 pots of chili on Friday afternoon, raising $686.50 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, with Team Power raising a total of $1417.06 for the Light the Night fundraiser.

We had hot chili – Ben Wilson’s Best in Bowl Bwa-Ha-Ha-Habanero recipe came in just ahead of Chris Fosson’s Hickory Smoked Chili. Close their heels was Jennifer Zink’s White Hot Mess Chili. Then there was Lebanese chili, veggie chili, even dark chocolate chili. Not to mention a pan of brownies to try to buy the judges’ votes.

We can’t wait to do it again, but next year we’ll pace ourselves. After tasting all 20 bowls, we were just ready for a nap.
