Mike Power gets his dues at BooLaLa celebration

It’s no secret that Mike Power has an affection for Louisville’s scenic Iroquois Park, like so many others who grew up in the city’s South End. So we weren’t surprised Mike became an advocate a decade ago of restoring Louisville’s historic Olmsted park system. On October 23, 2010, Louisville returned the favor, honoring Mike Power with the Frederick Law Olmsted Award for Distinguished Leadership.

Some 450 of Mike’s closest friends put on costumes and black tie for the BooLaLa Halloween Ball, which also raised money to restore Louisville’s Olmsted park system, one of only four created by North America’s original parks architect. Olmsted also designed NYC’s Central Park, the Biltmore Estate grounds and the U.S. Capitol Grounds.

And after dinner, dancing, awards and applause, there was cake: BooLaLa just happened to fall the night before Mike’s birthday, making for an especially sweet end to a special week.
