YouTube has rolled out a new channel design. Currently, you can switch to and from the new design. However, on March 7, 2012 the migration to the new design will be mandatory and automatically switched over for all existing channels.

What Changes

With the old design, many brand channels use header banner images that contain specific web and social links. The new design changes the approach to layout by the following:

A Treatise on Fonts, Websites, and the enjoining of the two

Let’s talk about fonts & websites and how to make the two play nicely together.

Here are a couple of questions I get asked fairly regularly:

Q:  Why can’t I use Helvetica Neue on my website?
A:  Because Adobe hates you!  Because, like many of the fonts we’re accustomed to using in print, Helvetica Neue isn’t licensed for use on the web.

It is always a great experience when you are in the presence of hundreds of marketers – in this case, hundreds of digital marketers during ad:tech (www.ad-tech.com). We always enjoy hearing the different keynotes, the many panels, case studies, workshops and not to mention the peer discussion. Conversions, engagement, ROI, API, Apps – that is all the chatter in the hallways. It is always our goal to hear the success stories and take away from it some application for our clients and our processes.

Should your digital strategy include an iPad app?

Interestingly, I overhead a couple of folks debating this at a local Starbucks as I was awaiting my amazing Toffee Nut Latte … yum. Our local Starbucks is a treasure trove of marketing conversations … it is amazing what I learn while awaiting my drink. But, I digress. Back to the question at hand.

This is definitely a question that needs asking – no matter how unpopular or unhip the question is perceived to be. (Trust me – when you are in a roomful of people excited about creating an ipad app and you ask that question – there will be eye-rolling).
